Q

How Much Does a Trip to Uzbekistan Cost From the UAE?

In short: a 7-day Uzbekistan trip from the UAE costs roughly AED 2,500–3,500 per person on a budget, AED 4,000–5,500 mid-range, and AED 9,000–15,000 or more for luxury travel, including return flights, hotels, food, intercity trains and sightseeing.

The total depends primarily on trip duration, flight price, hotel category, number of travellers, travel season, intercity transport, whether you tour privately or in a group, and your dining style. Airfare is the single biggest variable — it can account for a third to half of a budget or mid-range trip total, while day-to-day costs inside Uzbekistan are comparatively low.

Our pricing methodology

All figures are in UAE dirhams (AED), checked in September 2026. Hotel rates are per room per night; all other figures are per person. Trip totals include return international flights and assume two people sharing a room. Totals exclude shopping, travel insurance, visa fees where applicable and personal spending. Actual prices vary by travel date, availability and booking conditions.

Direct answer: estimated at AED 2,500–3,500 per person budget, AED 4,000–5,500 mid-range and AED 9,000–15,000 luxury, including return flights. Seven days is the sweet spot for the classic Tashkent → Samarkand → Bukhara route, all connected by high-speed rail.

Tashkent → Samarkand → Bukhara

The standard 7-day route. All three cities are linked by Afrosiyob high-speed rail, keeping transport costs low and travel time short. This is the most cost-efficient Uzbekistan itinerary.

Adding Khiva

Khiva sits far to the west. Adding it usually means a longer rail leg, an overnight sleeper or a domestic flight, plus an extra hotel night and more transfers. Expect to add roughly AED 400–900 per person and at least two days.

Extended trip

Uzbekistan 10-Day Trip Cost From UAE

Direct answer: estimated at AED 3,500–4,800 per person budget, AED 5,500–7,500 mid-range and AED 13,000–20,000 or more for luxury, including return flights. Ten days comfortably covers all four Silk Road cities plus day trips.

Accommodation

Three more hotel nights than a 7-day trip, adding roughly AED 300–900 per person sharing depending on category.

Transport

Khiva typically requires a long rail leg or domestic flight, plus more intercity transfers. Budget an extra AED 400–900.

Food & daily spend

Three extra days at AED 65–260 per day depending on style, so roughly AED 200–800 more.

Sightseeing

More sites and possible day trips to the Nurata mountains, Aydarkul lake or Shakhrisabz — AED 150–600 extra.

Longer trips lower your average daily cost because the flight is spread across more days, but raise the absolute total.

Biggest single cost

Flight Cost From UAE to Uzbekistan

Typical observed fares, September 2026: return economy Dubai–Tashkent commonly falls between AED 1,200 and AED 2,200. flydubai has listed round trips from around AED 1,935 on its own site, while connecting carriers such as Qatar Airways have shown round trips from roughly AED 1,200. Peak-season, short-notice or premium-cabin fares can reach AED 2,500–5,000.

DepartureDestinationTypical considerations
Dubai (DXB)Tashkent (TAS)Widest choice — flydubai, Uzbekistan Airways and Centrum Air fly direct, roughly 3.5–4.5 hours. Connecting options via Doha or Baku can be cheaper.
Abu Dhabi (AUH)Tashkent (TAS)Fewer direct options than Dubai; availability varies. Compare against a Dubai departure before booking.
Dubai (DXB)Samarkand (SKD)flydubai has listed direct one-way fares from around AED 1,242. Availability is more limited than Tashkent.
Sharjah (SHJ)Tashkent (TAS)Low-cost options can appear here. Check baggage allowance carefully, as fares often exclude checked bags.
✈️

Airfares are dynamic

The figures above are observed examples from September 2026, not fixed prices. Fares change daily with demand, season and booking window. Booking roughly 6 weeks ahead has historically produced better fares on this route than last-minute booking. Always compare the final fare including baggage and taxes — a headline low fare without checked baggage is rarely the cheapest option once a 20–30kg bag is added.

Food Cost in Uzbekistan

Direct answer: a local cafe meal typically costs the equivalent of AED 15–30, a mid-range restaurant meal AED 35–70, and hotel or fine dining AED 90–180 per person. Food is one of the easiest places to control your budget in Uzbekistan.

Daily food budgetAED 50–80AED 100–160AED 250–450

🍚 What local food costs

Plov, the national rice dish, is typically AED 12–25 at a local place. Samsa runs AED 3–8, lagman noodles AED 15–25, shashlik skewers AED 8–18 each, manti dumplings AED 12–22, and fresh non bread just AED 1–3. Eating where locals eat can halve your daily food spend without sacrificing the experience.

🕌 Halal food availability

Uzbekistan is a Muslim-majority country and the great majority of local restaurants serve halal food as standard, with pork rarely featuring in traditional Uzbek cuisine. That said, some international restaurants, hotel venues and establishments serving alcohol may not be certified halal, so ask directly if certification matters to you. Halal dining generally carries no price premium here.

Getting around

Transportation Cost in Uzbekistan

ModeTypical costNotes
Tashkent metroAED 1–2 per rideCheap, efficient, and the stations themselves are a sightseeing highlight
City busAED 1–2Very cheap but signage is limited for non-Russian speakers
Ride-hailing (Yandex Go)AED 5–15 short tripThe most practical option for visitors; widely used in Tashkent and Samarkand
Street taxiAED 5–20Negotiate before getting in; apps usually work out cheaper and clearer
Airport transfer (Tashkent)AED 20–50Pre-booked private transfers cost more but remove arrival friction
Private car with driver (full day)AED 150–300Good value when split between three or four travellers
Private intercity transferAED 400–800 per carTashkent–Samarkand by private car is roughly 5 hours door to door
Domestic flightAED 150–400Mainly relevant for reaching Urgench/Khiva quickly

The cheapest option is the metro and ride-hailing apps; the most comfortable is a private car with driver. For most UAE travellers, a mix of ride-hailing within cities and high-speed trains between cities offers the best balance of cost and comfort.

Book early

Afrosiyob tickets go on sale roughly 45–60 days ahead and popular dates in peak season can sell out within hours. This is the single most important booking to lock in early.

Classes explained

Economy is 2+2 reclining seats with air-con and USB — perfectly comfortable for 2–4 hours. Business offers 2+1 wider seating. VIP has very limited seats and sells out first.

Hidden extra

Samarkand station sits roughly 10–12km from the centre, so factor in taxis at both ends of the journey when comparing rail against a private transfer.

Fares rose in recent tariff changes and figures vary between sources. Confirm current pricing on the official Uzbekistan Railways site (railway.uz) before budgeting. UZS-to-AED conversions use approximately 3,270 UZS per dirham as at 15 September 2026.

Attractions

Uzbekistan Sightseeing and Attraction Costs

There is no single combined city pass across most sites — you generally buy a separate ticket at each monument. Samarkand raised its attraction prices significantly in the last year, so older guides understate these figures.

Entrance ticket

Paid per site, per person. Budget AED 30–60 per day if you are visiting two or three monuments.

Guide cost

A Registan guided tour has been listed at 300,000 UZS (≈ AED 92) per group of up to 20. A half-day private guide commonly runs USD 25–40 (≈ AED 92–147).

Private tour cost

Full-day private city touring with guide and vehicle typically bundles at AED 350–700, and is usually included in a tour package.

Free option worth knowing: the evening light projection show at the Registan can be watched from the viewing platform at no charge, typically around 9pm in summer and 7pm in winter.

🛂

Uzbekistan Visa and Entry Costs

For most UAE residents, visa cost is zero. Foreign citizens with UAE resident status can generally enter Uzbekistan visa-free for 30 days, subject to stated conditions on passport and residence validity — meaning no tourist visa application fee applies to that entry route.

Travellers who do not qualify may need an eVisa, with the consular fee officially published at USD 20 (≈ AED 73) for single entry, or a consular sticker visa where required. Do not assume every UAE resident pays a visa fee — and equally, do not assume every UAE resident qualifies for visa-free entry.

Full eligibility conditions, passport validity thresholds and exceptions are covered in our dedicated guide: Uzbekistan Visa for UAE Residents.

The other line items

Insurance, Connectivity and Shopping

🛡️ Travel insurance

Basic single-trip cover from the UAE typically starts around AED 50–100 per person for a week, with comprehensive medical, cancellation and baggage cover running AED 120–300. Family policies often cost less than insuring each traveller separately. Compare medical limits rather than headline price, and check that the policy covers your full trip duration.

📱 SIM, eSIM and internet

A local tourist SIM with a generous data allowance typically costs the equivalent of AED 20–60, and eSIM options for Uzbekistan generally fall in a similar band. Buying in the city is often cheaper than at the airport. Most hotels and many cafes offer free Wi-Fi, so heavy data purchases are rarely necessary for a short trip.

🛍️ Shopping budget

Entirely optional and excluded from our trip totals. Silk scarves, suzani textiles, ceramics from Rishtan, spices, miniature paintings and traditional chapan coats are the classic buys. A realistic souvenir budget is AED 200–600, though serious carpet or silk purchases can run far higher. Bargaining is expected in bazaars.

Per day

Uzbekistan Daily Travel Budget

Direct answer: excluding international flights, budget roughly AED 200–300 per person per day for budget travel, AED 400–650 mid-range and AED 1,200–2,200 luxury. These figures include accommodation, food, local transport and sightseeing, but exclude intercity train tickets and shopping.

By traveller type

Couples, Families and Honeymoons

💑 Couples (7 days, total for two)

Budget: AED 5,500–7,000
Mid-range: AED 8,000–11,000
Luxury: AED 18,000–30,000

Couples get better value per person than solo travellers because the hotel room and any private transfers are shared.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family of four (7 days)

Mid-range estimate: AED 10,000–13,000 total

Costs vary considerably with children's ages, room configuration, whether extra beds or family rooms are needed, child flight fares and reduced attraction tickets. Children do not always pay adult prices — some Samarkand sites charge under-18s roughly half.

💍 Honeymoon (7 days, for two)

4-star with private touring: AED 11,000–16,000
5-star boutique, fully private: AED 20,000–32,000

Typically adds private transfers throughout, a dedicated guide, boutique heritage hotels in Bukhara and Khiva, premium dining and a photography session. See our Uzbekistan honeymoon packages.

💭

Is Uzbekistan Cheap From the UAE?

It's more accurate to say Uzbekistan offers strong value once you arrive than to simply call it cheap. Meals, taxis, attraction tickets and mid-range hotels all cost substantially less than UAE equivalents, and a mid-range daily budget of AED 400–650 covers a genuinely comfortable standard of travel.

But the total UAE-to-Uzbekistan cost is heavily shaped by airfare, hotel standard, trip duration, whether you tour privately, and season. On a 5-day budget trip, flights alone can represent well over half the total. A traveller who books flights early and stays in 3-star hotels will pay a fraction of what a traveller booking peak-season flights into 5-star hotels pays — for the same destination.

FlexibilityHighDepends on package structure
Total cost transparencyRequires you to calculate everythingEasier to compare as one figure

Why a package can be better value

A package headline price can look higher than a DIY estimate while actually costing less overall, because the DIY figure often omits transfers, guides, entrance fees and pre-secured Afrosiyob seats. Train tickets in particular can sell out 45–60 days ahead on popular dates, and a package that guarantees them removes real risk from your itinerary.

When DIY wins

Independent booking usually costs less for flexible travellers happy with guesthouses, local restaurants and self-guided sightseeing, especially if travelling in the shoulder season with time to hunt for fares. DIY also suits repeat visitors who already know the route.

🔍

Never assume a package includes everything

Before comparing any two packages, check each against the same list: international flights, hotels, breakfast, airport transfers, train tickets, domestic flights, sightseeing, entrance fees, guide, visa support, insurance, lunches and dinners, and taxes. As market reference points: one official Uzbekistan tourism listing for a 6-night/7-day programme shows roughly USD 566–722 per person (≈ AED 2,080–2,650) depending on group size and hotel category, with lunches and dinners listed separately. Another official listing shows an 8-day/7-night classic programme at USD 1,800 for two guests (≈ AED 6,600), including accommodation, transfers, sightseeing, some rail and air transport and entrance tickets, while excluding international flights and insurance. These are illustrative market benchmarks, not Gulliver Holidays pricing.

Practical tips

How UAE Travellers Can Save Money on Uzbekistan Trips

  • 1Travel in shoulder season — spring and autumn offer good weather with softer flight and hotel pricing than peak periods
  • 2Book flights around six weeks ahead, which has historically produced better fares on the Dubai–Tashkent route than last-minute booking
  • 3Compare Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah departures, and weigh direct flights against connecting options via Doha or Baku
  • 4Eat where locals eat — a plov lunch at a local place costs a fraction of a hotel restaurant meal with no loss of authenticity
  • 5Use Afrosiyob economy class rather than private intercity transfers; it is faster and dramatically cheaper
  • 6Choose 3-star or boutique guesthouse accommodation, which in Bukhara and Khiva often beats 4-star hotels on character
  • 7Use ride-hailing apps and the Tashkent metro instead of negotiating street taxis
  • 8Avoid unnecessary domestic flights unless you genuinely need to reach Khiva quickly
  • 9Travel as a couple or small group so room costs and private transfers are shared
  • 10Set a daily AED spending limit before you travel and track against it, since small cash purchases add up quickly

Seasonality affects flights, hotels, tours and availability. For a full breakdown, see our guide to the best time to visit Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan Money and Currency Guide

UAE Dirham to Uzbekistani Som

1 AED ≈ 3,270 UZS

Rate checked 15 September 2026. AED/UZS rates fluctuate — use the current Central Bank of Uzbekistan official rate when finalising your budget. Every AED figure on this page uses this approximate conversion.

💵 Cash

Essential for taxis, bazaars, small cafes and many entrance tickets. Note that som notes come in large denominations, so a modest sum looks like a lot of paper.

💳 Cards

Accepted at hotels, larger restaurants and some ticket offices, but acceptance is inconsistent. Never rely on cards alone.

🏧 ATMs

Widely available in Tashkent and Samarkand, less so in smaller towns. Withdraw before heading to Khiva or rural areas.

💱 Exchange

Use banks and official exchange points rather than street changers. Bringing USD in cash to exchange locally is common practice.

💰

How much cash should I take?

As a rough guide, carry the equivalent of AED 80–120 per day in som for budget travel, AED 150–250 for mid-range and AED 300+ for luxury travel where tipping and incidentals are higher. Do not carry your entire trip budget in physical cash — use cards and ATMs as your primary method, keep cash as a working float, and always have a backup payment method stored separately.
