Netherlands & Luxembourg Schengen visa 2026 · Last updated: June 2026 · Reviewed by the Gulliver Travels visa team
Dreaming of Amsterdam's canals, the Keukenhof tulip fields or Rotterdam's skyline? We help UAE residents of any nationality prepare a strong Netherlands Schengen visa application — online form, documents, insurance and VFS Dubai or Abu Dhabi appointment support across all emirates. We prepare your file; the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides.
Most UAE residents need a Netherlands Schengen visa (Type C) — only Emirati passport holders are visa-exempt. You must first complete the official online application form at consular.mfaservices.nl, then book and attend an appointment at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi for documents and biometrics. Average processing is currently around 15–25 calendar days, so the Dutch Mission advises applying at least 45 days before travel. The same visa also covers Luxembourg. Gulliver Travels prepares your file end to end.

A Netherlands Schengen visa is a short-stay Type C visa for tourism, business, study or visiting family and friends. It lets you stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period and travel across all 29 Schengen countries — and the same application also covers Luxembourg.
From the canal ring and museums of Amsterdam to the spring tulip fields of Keukenhof, Rotterdam's modern skyline and the windmills of Kinderdijk, the Netherlands is one of Europe's most rewarding short breaks for UAE travellers. Because it's a Schengen country, your visa also opens the door to the rest of Europe on the same trip.
Apply through the Netherlands when it's your only or main Schengen destination (where you'll spend the most nights), or your first point of entry if the stay is split equally. The process starts with the mandatory Dutch online application form — which issues a unique reference code — and is finalised in person at VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Gulliver Travels completes your form correctly, builds a clean document file and a strong cover letter, and guides you through the appointment. See our full Schengen visa guide →

Whether you need a visa depends on your passport nationality, not your UAE residency. Your UAE residence visa lets you apply from here rather than your home country — but it doesn't replace a Schengen visa.
Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian and most other passport holders need a Netherlands Schengen visa, applied from the UAE with valid residency.
UAE passport holders can visit the Netherlands and the Schengen Area visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days.
VFS Global Dubai and Abu Dhabi accept applications from residents of the UAE, and also from residents of Afghanistan submitting through the same centres.
VFS Netherlands Dubai processes several short-stay categories, plus business, family, transit and study sub-types. Pick the one matching your main purpose of travel.
| Visa Type | Best For | Key Requirement | Stay Allowed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tourist Visa | Holidays, sightseeing, leisure | Itinerary, bookings, insurance, funds | Up to 90 days / 180 |
| Business Visa | Meetings, conferences, training | Invitation letter; Orange Carpet for registered firms | Up to 90 days / 180 |
| Family Visit Visa | Visiting family, friends or partner | Invitation letter, relationship proof | Up to 90 days / 180 |
| Student / Study Visa | Short courses, exchange, training | Enrolment letter, tuition/funding proof | Up to 90 days / 180 (MVV needed if longer) |
| Airport Transit Visa | Changing flights within Schengen | Onward ticket; applies to specific nationalities | Airport transit area only |
| Family Members of EU/EEA Nationals | Travelling with/to an EU, EEA or Swiss family member | Relationship proof — may qualify for free facilitation | Up to 90 days / 180 |
For holidays, sightseeing and recreational travel only. Mixing in business or paid work means you need a different category instead.
For meetings, conferences and training — not paid employment in the Netherlands. Employees of companies registered under the Orange Carpet Visa Facility get a simplified process and longer multi-entry validity.
For visiting family, friends or a partner. If you're travelling with — or to see — a family member who holds an EU, EEA or Swiss passport, you may be eligible for free visa facilitation.
Covers short courses or training of 90 days or less. For a full degree programme or any stay longer than 90 days, you'll need a long-stay residence permit (MVV) through the IND instead.
The Dutch Mission checks files carefully, so a complete, consistent file matters. Make every document current, legible and matching your online application.

We Handle ItThe Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides your validity, entries and permitted stay. A visa can be single-entry for one trip, or multiple-entry valid for 6 months, 1 year or longer — based on your profile and travel history.
Your stay allowance is counted across the whole Schengen Area, not per country — you can't get 90 days in the Netherlands and another 90 in Belgium.
A good travel history (recent, lawfully used Schengen visas) and a solid financial profile can earn a longer multiple-entry visa — at the Mission's discretion. Orange Carpet business applicants may get up to 5 years, multiple entries.
Processing depends on application volume, the season, your file and any additional checks. Plan ahead — the Dutch Mission recommends applying earlier than most Schengen countries.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists an average short-stay Schengen processing time of around 15 calendar days, though current figures (mid-2026) show this has risen to roughly 25 days due to high application volume. In some cases — including mandatory information-exchange checks for certain nationalities, missing documents, or further review — processing can extend to a maximum of 45 calendar days. Apply up to 6 months ahead and submit at least 45 days before departure.
| Visa Category | Average Processing | Maximum Processing |
|---|---|---|
| Short-stay Schengen visa (Tourist / Business / Family / Study) | 15–25 calendar days | 45 calendar days |
| Airport transit visa | 15–25 calendar days | 45 calendar days |
| Entry visa (lost / expired residence permit) | 15–25 calendar days | 45 calendar days |
| MVV visa sticker (after IND approval) | 10 working days | — |
Figures are official averages published by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and VFS Global, and can change without notice.
Your Netherlands visa cost has a few layers. All government and VFS fees are paid in AED at the centre; we give you the exact, itemised total for your case.
The Schengen government fee, paid at submission. Reduced for children 6–11 and free for under-6s.
VFS Global's service charge per application, paid in AED at the Dubai or Abu Dhabi centre.
Schengen travel insurance (min €30,000) plus optional VFS extras (SMS, courier, premium services) and our service fee.
| Fee Type | Amount (EUR) | Approx. AED |
|---|---|---|
| Consular fee — adult | €90.00 | ≈ AED 385 |
| Consular fee — child (6–11) | €45.00 | ≈ AED 190 |
| Consular fee — child (under 6) | Free | Free |
| VFS Global service fee | — | ≈ AED 101 (incl. VAT) |
EUR amounts are the Dutch government's official 2026 consular fee schedule. AED amounts are collected by VFS Global at the centre and move with the prevailing exchange rate.
No agency can guarantee approval — the decision belongs to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But most refusals and delays come from avoidable issues.
Submitting a form without the unique code from consular.mfaservices.nl, or a handwritten copy — these aren't accepted.
Missing insurance, under €30,000 cover, or a policy that doesn't span all Schengen states.
Statements that don't credibly cover the trip, or sudden unexplained deposits, raise doubts.
An itinerary that doesn't match bookings, or the Netherlands not really being your main destination.
Little evidence you'll return — job, business, family or residence stability all help your case.
Leaving it closer than 45 days to travel risks missed appointment slots and an unfinished file.
| Mistake | Why It Causes Problems | How to Avoid It |
|---|---|---|
| Handwritten or incomplete form | No unique code means it may not be processed | Use consular.mfaservices.nl and print the signed form |
| Weak or non-compliant insurance | Below €30,000 or missing Schengen-wide cover | Buy a compliant Schengen policy before your appointment |
| Inconsistent itinerary | Dates or destinations don't match your bookings | Align your cover letter, bookings and application form |
| Thin financial proof | Statements don't show ability to fund the trip | Submit 3 months of clean, consistent bank statements |
| Applying late | Misses appointment slots or the 45-day window | Book your VFS slot 6–8 weeks before travel |
| Missing minors' documents | Consent letters or parental signatures left out | Prepare minors' paperwork as early as possible |
Approval is never guaranteed, but these habits give you the best possible application.
The Dutch Mission recommends submitting at least 45 days before travel — well ahead of the EU's 15-day minimum.
Min €30,000, all Schengen states, full trip, with applicant details — we arrange it.
Complete consular.mfaservices.nl yourself; forms without the unique code cause delays.
Avoid last-minute deposits; show a natural, healthy balance history.
Consent letters and both parents' signatures take time to arrange — start early.
