Dreaming of Lisbon's golden trams, Porto's riverfront or the sun-soaked Algarve coast? We help UAE residents of any nationality prepare a strong Portugal Schengen visa application — documents, insurance and VFS Dubai or Abu Dhabi appointment support across all emirates. We prepare your file; the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi decides.
Most UAE residents need a Portugal Schengen visa (Type C) — only Emirati passport holders are visa-exempt, travelling visa-free for up to 90 days. You book and attend an appointment at VFS Global in Dubai (Wafi Mall) or Abu Dhabi to submit documents, give biometrics, and pay fees. Your file is then forwarded to the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi, which makes the final decision. Standard processing is a minimum of 15 calendar days, extending to 30–45 days in peak season (Jun–Sep). Gulliver Holidays prepares your file end to end.

A Portugal Schengen visa is a short-stay Type C visa for tourism, business, family visits or study. It lets you stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period and travel across all 27 Schengen countries on the same sticker.
From Lisbon's hillside trams and tiled façades to Porto's riverside Ribeira district and the golden cliffs of the Algarve, Portugal is one of Europe's most rewarding short breaks for UAE travellers — and one of the most in-demand Schengen destinations from the region. Because it's a Schengen country, your visa also opens the door to the rest of Europe on the same trip.
Applications are submitted through VFS Global, which is exclusively authorised by the Embassy of Portugal to manage document collection, biometrics and fee payment in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. VFS does not decide your visa — it forwards your file to the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi for a final decision. Gulliver Holidays builds a clean, consistent document file and a strong cover letter, and guides you through booking and attending your appointment.

Whether you need a visa depends on your passport nationality, not your UAE residency. Your UAE residence visa lets you apply from here rather than your home country — but it doesn't replace a Schengen visa.
Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi and most other passport holders need a Portugal Schengen visa, applied from the UAE with valid residency.
UAE passport holders can visit Portugal and the Schengen Area visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days.
VFS Global accepts Portugal visa applications at both UAE centres, regardless of which emirate you reside in — all files go to the same Embassy.
VFS Portugal Dubai processes several short-stay categories, plus long-stay national visas for work, study and residency. Pick the one matching your main purpose of travel.

The most common visa for UAE residents — explore Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve, Madeira or the Azores, plus all 27 Schengen countries on one sticker.
For meetings, conferences and trade events. Requires an invitation letter from a Portuguese company in addition to the standard documents.
Visiting an EU citizen or Portuguese resident requires a Termo de Responsabilidade — a sponsorship letter notarised in Portugal — plus a copy of the host's EU passport or residence card.
Covers study over 90 days, work visas, Golden Visas and family reunification. Processed at embassy level — minimum 90 days, sometimes longer with extra documentation.
The Embassy of Portugal checks files carefully, so a complete, consistent file matters. Make every document current, legible and matching your application form.

We Handle ItVFS Global is a service provider — it does not influence or make visa decisions. Those remain entirely with the Embassy of Portugal.
Every applicant goes through these steps at the centre, regardless of visa type.
VFS offers several convenience services on top of the standard process — none of these affect your visa decision.
The minimum statutory processing time is 15 calendar days, but the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi may extend this if further examination or additional documents are required.
During peak season (June–September), processing can extend to 30–45 days, and in some cases up to 60 additional days if extra documents are needed. The Embassy cannot guarantee passport return by a specific date, so apply at least 4–6 weeks before your intended travel date — earlier in summer.
| Visa Type | Standard Processing Time | Peak Season (Jun–Sep) |

| Long-Stay / National Visa (Type D) | Minimum 90 days | Can extend to 150+ days |

Figures reflect official guidance from the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi and VFS Global, and can change without notice.
Fees are set in euros by the EU but paid in AED at the VFS centre. They are subject to change without prior notice — always confirm the latest amounts when booking your appointment.

A separate service fee charged by VFS Global for handling your application, paid in AED at the centre.
Schengen travel insurance (min €30,000) plus optional VFS extras (SMS, courier, premium lounge).

EUR amounts are the official 2026 consular fee schedule. AED amounts are collected by VFS Global at the centre and move with the prevailing exchange rate. All fees are non-refundable, even if the application is refused.
No agency can guarantee approval — the decision belongs to the Embassy of Portugal. But most refusals and delays come from avoidable issues.
The embassy doubts financial self-sufficiency. Show 3 months of healthy statements with regular income.
You must be legally resident with 3+ months remaining. Check residence validity before applying.
Insurance must cover all Schengen countries with €30,000+ cover — purchase a compliant policy first.
Missing fields or unsigned forms are rejected — double-check every field, sign and date before submission.
An unclear travel itinerary weakens the application. Book refundable hotels or provide a host invitation.
Leaving it too close to travel means insufficient time for processing — apply at least 4–6 weeks ahead.
| Issue | Why It Causes Problems | How to Avoid It |
|---|---|---|
| Inconsistent documents | Dates, names or figures don't match across documents | Review all documents as a set before submitting |
| Weak travel history | No prior visa travel history raises risk flags | Provide as much previous travel evidence as possible |
| Wrong visa centre | Applying at a centre for a different country | Apply at VFS Portugal if Portugal is your main destination |
| No NOC from employer | Employer doesn't confirm you'll return to work in the UAE | Obtain a clear, signed NOC on company letterhead |
Approval is never guaranteed, but these habits give you the best possible application.
