Low humidity and dry, sunny days make this the prime season for the full island circuit, including Prison Island, Jozani Forest and Safari Blue.

Warm, dry conditions and calm seas make this a popular window for beach time and honeymoons in Nungwi.

Mar–May Low season

The long rains bring lower hotel rates and lush green spice farms, though showers can interrupt outdoor plans.

Entry made easy

Visa & Entry for UAE Residents

Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, and most nationalities living in the UAE can get a visa on arrival at Zanzibar International Airport or apply for an e-visa online before travelling. We guide you through the exact requirements for your nationality.

🛂 Visa on arrival / e-visa

Most UAE residents can obtain a Tanzania visa on arrival or apply online in advance; we confirm the fastest route for your passport.

✈️ Flight time from UAE

Direct flights from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Zanzibar take around 5 to 6 hours. Zanzibar is 1 hour behind UAE time year-round.

💱 Currency

The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS), but US Dollars are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and for excursions.

🍽 Halal food

Zanzibar is predominantly Muslim, so halal restaurants and fresh seafood options are widely available across Stone Town and beach resorts.

🧳 We recommend applying for your e-visa a few days before departure to skip the airport queue. Passport valid 6+ months beyond your travel dates is advised, along with proof of return flights.

Visa rules differ by nationality and can change. Entry is at the sole discretion of Tanzanian immigration authorities. We confirm current requirements for your passport before you travel.
