Best Time to Visit Morocco

Morocco rewards a spring or autumn visit for the classic route — mild temperatures for touring the imperial cities and comfortable conditions for both the Sahara Desert and the High Atlas Mountains.

SeasonMonthsWeatherWhy go
SpringMar – MayMild 18–26°C, comfortable desert nightsBest overall — pleasant touring weather across the imperial cities & Sahara
SummerJun – AugHot 30–38°C inland, mild coastBest for Essaouira & Atlantic coast breezes; desert daytime heat is intense
AutumnSep – NovMild 20–28°C, clear skiesFewer crowds, comfortable Sahara camping temperatures, golden light for photos
WinterDec – FebCool 10–18°C, cold desert nightsLowest prices; snow-capped Atlas views, but pack warm layers for the desert

Mar–May Best

The sweet spot for the classic route: comfortable days for Fes and Marrakech's medinas, and mild enough evenings for a memorable night in the Sahara.

Jun–Aug Peak season

If Essaouira's Atlantic coast is on your list, this is when sea breezes offer relief from inland heat — though midday desert temperatures can be intense.

Sep–Nov Local favourite

Many travellers rate autumn as Morocco's best-kept secret — comfortable temperatures throughout, and clear desert skies perfect for stargazing.
