Sri Lanka Classic — 5-Day Itinerary

Here's how your 4-night Sri Lanka trip flows. Flights, 4★ hotels, all transfers and guided touring run on a private basis — so it's just your group, on your schedule, never a shared coach.

DAY1

Welcome to Colombo Included

Land at Bandaranaike International Airport, where our representative meets you and transfers you privately to your Colombo hotel (approx. 1 hour). Sri Lanka is half an hour ahead of UAE time. Check in and spend the evening at leisure — stroll along Galle Face Green or explore the city's colonial-era streets. Overnight in Colombo.

DAY2

Kandy's Elephants & Culture Included

Drive to Kandy (approx. 3.5 hours), Sri Lanka's last royal capital, stopping at a spice garden en route. In Kandy:

  • Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic — the island's most important Buddhist pilgrimage site.
  • Elephant encounter — observe these gentle giants up close at a riverside sanctuary.
  • Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya — once accessible only to royalty.

Evening at leisure, with an optional traditional Kandyan cultural dance show. Overnight in Kandy.

DAY3

Bentota Beach Bliss Included

Drive south to the golden beaches of Bentota (approx. 5 hours), on Sri Lanka's palm-fringed southern coast. Check in to your beach resort and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the Indian Ocean, or try an optional water-sports session. Overnight in Bentota.

DAY4

Galle Fort & Madu River Included

A full day exploring the southern coast:

  • Galle Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage site built by Portuguese and Dutch colonists, with ramparts, boutique shops and ocean views.
  • Madu River boat ride — glide past mangrove islands and a cinnamon-processing demonstration.
  • Turtle Hatchery — learn about marine conservation and, seasonally, see hatchlings released to the sea.

Overnight in Bentota.

DAY5

Departure from Colombo

Enjoy a relaxed final breakfast, with time for last-minute souvenir shopping — Ceylon tea, batik textiles and gemstones are local favourites. Private transfer to Colombo airport (approx. 2 hours) for your flight home.

Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a year-round tropical destination — the nuance is which coast you're visiting. The west and south coasts (Colombo, Kandy, Bentota, Galle) are driest from December to March. The east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) has its own dry season from April to September, so there's rarely a bad time to go.

SeasonMonthsWeatherWhy go
West & south coast dryDec – MarWarm 27–31°C, driest & sunniestBest overall — Colombo, Kandy, Bentota & Galle at their finest
Shoulder seasonApr – JunWarm & humid, occasional showersFewer crowds, good value, hill country still cool
East coast dryApr – SepWarm 28–32°C, calm seas on the eastBest for Trincomalee & Arugam Bay surf
Southwest monsoonJul – SepWetter on the west & south coastsLowest prices; hill country & east coast unaffected

Dec–Mar Best

The sweet spot for the classic route: driest, sunniest weather for Colombo, Kandy, Bentota and Galle. Ideal for beach time and sightseeing alike.

Apr–Sep East coast

If Trincomalee or Arugam Bay are on your list, this is their dry season — while the west coast sees its own rains. Sri Lanka's two coasts balance each other out.

Nuwara Eliya Year-round

The hill country sits at altitude, so it stays cool and misty whenever you visit — a refreshing contrast to the coastal heat, any time of year.

Entry made easy

Sri Lanka ETA for UAE Residents

Most nationalities, including UAE residents and citizens, need to apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before flying to Sri Lanka. It's a short online form, approval is usually fast, and we guide you through the exact steps for your passport.

🛂 ETA — apply before you fly

Most foreign nationals, including UAE residents, must obtain an ETA online in advance via the official government portal. There is no visa-on-arrival for most nationalities.

✈️ Flight time from UAE

Direct flights from Dubai to Colombo take around 4 hours. Sri Lanka is 30 minutes ahead of UAE time.

💱 Currency

The Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) is the official currency. Cards are accepted in hotels and cities, but carry cash for markets and rural areas.

💧 Water & health

Tap water isn't recommended for drinking — stick to bottled water, which is cheap and widely available.

🧳 We recommend applying for your ETA at least a few days before departure. Passport valid 6+ months beyond your travel dates is advised, along with a confirmed return ticket.

Visa and ETA rules differ by nationality and can change. Entry is at the sole discretion of Sri Lankan immigration. We confirm current requirements for your passport before you travel.

Yes to all three. Families enjoy the elephant encounters, beaches and short driving distances between destinations. Couples love the beachfront resorts around Bentota and Galle. And wildlife enthusiasts can add a Yala National Park safari to see leopards, elephants and sloth bears in the wild.

Every package is a starting point. Add Nuwara Eliya's tea country, extend your stay in Bentota or Galle, include a Yala safari, or combine Sri Lanka with the Maldives on one trip — just tell us what you have in mind and we'll build it around you.

The currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Cards are widely accepted in hotels and cities, though it's worth carrying cash for markets and rural areas. Sri Lanka is generally safe and welcoming for tourists, especially in the main travel areas covered on our packages.
