When is the best time to visit Georgia from UAE?

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the best overall times to visit Georgia from the UAE. You get comfortable temperatures of 15–25°C, lower tourist numbers than peak summer, and perfect conditions for city sightseeing and day excursions. Summer (July–August) is the best season for mountain hiking in Kazbegi and Svaneti despite Tbilisi's heat. Winter (December–February) is ideal for skiing at Gudauri and snow scenery. Essential Georgia Travel Tips for UAE Visitors

Regardless of which season you choose, these practical tips will help your Georgia trip run smoothly. For a deeper guide see our first-time visitor tips →

🧥

Always Pack Layers

Mountain weather changes fast in Georgia. Even in July, evenings in Kazbegi and Gudauri require a warm jacket.

👟

Wear Comfortable Shoes

Tbilisi's Old Town cobblestones and mountain trails both demand comfortable, sturdy footwear regardless of season.

🍽️

Try Local Food

Khinkali dumplings and cheese-filled khachapuri are year-round staples. In autumn, add fresh churchkhela and new wine.

🚗

Book Mountain Tours Early

Guided Kazbegi and Svaneti day trips book out fast in summer. Reserve at least 2–3 weeks ahead in July and August.

💳

Carry Some Cash

Cards are accepted in Tbilisi and hotels, but cash in Georgian Lari (GEL) is useful for markets, small restaurants and mountain villages.

🛡️

Get Travel Insurance

Mountain and outdoor activities carry risk. Ensure your insurance covers hiking, skiing (in winter) and medical evacuation.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions — Best Time to Visit Georgia

The most common questions UAE travelers ask when planning a Georgia trip by season.

May, June and September are widely considered the best individual months to visit Georgia. May and June offer spring warmth and lower crowds; September brings the magic of the Rtveli wine harvest and comfortable autumn temperatures. All three are ideal for both city sightseeing and mountain excursions.
Tbilisi city can be intense in July and August — temperatures regularly reach 30–35°C. However, the Caucasus mountain regions — Kazbegi, Gudauri, Svaneti — remain pleasantly cool and refreshing at 15–22°C. The practical solution is simple: base yourself in the mountains during the day and return to Tbilisi in the evening, or plan city sightseeing for morning hours.
The Georgian wine harvest — called Rtveli — takes place primarily through September and into early October in the Kakheti wine region. It is one of the most celebrated cultural experiences in the Caucasus: family estates open their qvevri clay wine vessels, guests help harvest and press the grapes, and traditional feasting follows. September is arguably the single best month for a cultural Georgia trip.
Kazbegi is technically visitable year-round, but winter access can be challenging — the road may close due to heavy snow and the Gergeti Trinity Church hike can be difficult. The best periods are May through October, with June–August offering the easiest access, the most reliable trails and the most dramatic clear-sky views of Mount Kazbek.
January and February (outside UAE and Georgian public holidays) are typically the cheapest months for both flights and hotels. The shoulder seasons — April, May, October and November — also offer significantly more competitive prices than July, August or the ski holiday peak in December–January. Contact Gulliver Holidays for the latest Georgia package pricing from Dubai.
Yes — Gudauri is one of the Caucasus region's best ski destinations, sitting at 2,000–3,300 metres altitude with reliable snow from December to March. January and February typically offer the best conditions. Bakuriani is a more family-friendly resort at lower altitude. For UAE ski travelers, Georgia offers European-quality skiing with significantly lower costs than Alps destinations.
A minimum of 5 days is needed for a Tbilisi-focused trip with one or two day excursions. Seven days comfortably covers Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Kakheti wine country. Ten or more days allows you to add Batumi and Svaneti. Our most popular package — the 5-day Georgia trip — is ideal for UAE residents taking a long weekend break.
Georgia is growing in popularity but is not yet as overcrowded as many European destinations. July and August are the busiest months — popular spots in Tbilisi and Kazbegi get noticeably busy. Visiting in May–June or September–October gives you very similar weather and scenery with considerably fewer tourists and better hotel availability.
Snow is possible in Tbilisi in January and February but is rarely heavy or long-lasting in the city itself. For guaranteed snow and a white-winter experience, head to the Caucasus mountain resorts — Gudauri at 2,200 metres receives reliable deep snow from December through March.
Most UAE residents can visit Georgia visa-free for up to 90 days. UAE nationals (Emiratis) enjoy visa-free access for one full year. Some nationalities face updated requirements from 2025–2026 and may need to apply for a Georgia e-Visa in advance. See our Georgia visa UAE guide for full details, or message Gulliver Holidays for an instant eligibility check.
